Common questions
What is a nonprofit back office?
The back office is everything that keeps a nonprofit running but never touches the mission directly: fundraising systems, marketing, bookkeeping, reporting, database management, board prep, and print materials. Large nonprofits hire staff for each of these. Small ones usually hand them all to an executive director who is already stretched thin. NPOBO takes that work off your plate as an outsourced team.
Who does NPOBO work with?
Small grassroots nonprofits. These are organizations with real programs and real community impact but without the staff to run a full development, marketing, and operations function in house. We are based in Queens, New York and work with nonprofits across the United States.
How is NPOBO different from a consultant?
Consultants deliver a strategy document and leave you to execute it. We execute. We write the emails, build the donor pipeline, design the gala program, set up the automations, and run the reports. You get a team that does the work, not a report that sits in a shared drive.
Do we have to sign up for every service?
No. Most organizations start with the one or two areas causing the most pain, often fundraising strategy or marketing, and add services as they grow. The advantage of having it all under one roof is that when you do add a service, you are not onboarding a new vendor who has to learn your organization from scratch.
How much does NPOBO cost?
Pricing depends on which services you need and how much of each. Because we built the model for small organizations rather than scaling down an enterprise offering, our engagements are designed to fit grassroots budgets. The free 30-minute discovery call is where we scope what you actually need and give you a real number.
What happens on the free discovery call?
Thirty minutes, no sales pitch. We ask what is eating your team's time, what is falling through the cracks, and what your next 12 months look like. You leave with a clear picture of what we would take on and what it would cost, whether or not you decide to work with us.
